PADNUG

Tuesday I attended PADNUG for the first time at Ickabod’s in Beaverton. This is a Portland area developer user group that meets once a week in various locations. As of this writing, they have upcoming meetups in Tigard, Hillsboro, and Portland. The format is dinner/drinks but looks like they have bowling at Grand Central on October 21st! I spoke with an attendee and apparently they used to have presenters on various topics, but have recently stopped doing that. Currently they are looking for venues that could host presentations again.

This group is part of the .NET foundation, and appear to be focused on Microsoft technologies. But I had some really fun conversations with some folks around DSPs (Digital Signal Processing), MAME emulation (multi purpose emulation frameworks) for game devices, and even video codecs/protocols. Very fun stuff. Looking forward to joining again sometime soon.

We bring together software developers from throughout the area to learn and discuss technologies and techniques for developing on and interacting with Microsoft platforms. We once held meetings featuring amazing presentations on a wide range of topics including Technology Announcements, Architecture, Methodologies, and Developer Experiences.
